Applause for U.S. Case Against Tobacco Firms

Regarding “Not Just Blowing Smoke,” Sept. 12:
Kudos to the Justice Department for continuing to pursue its racketeering case against the tobacco industry.
Speaking as one whose father was killed by cigarette smoke and whose mother is battling lung cancer from secondhand cigarette smoke, I hope the Justice Department bankrupts the tobacco industry.
It would be the closest thing to justice I can imagine, short of putting the majority of the tobacco industry executives in jail for murder.
