Get some fresh air -- and catch a fish or two -- Saturday at Big Bear Lake during the community’s annual free fall fishing day.
No permits or licenses will be required at the lake, which is stocked with about 2,000 pounds of rainbow trout every two weeks. The Big Bear Municipal Water District will waive the usual $15 single-day boat permit Saturday, and there will be no charge to launch boats from the West Ramp on Highway 38.
In addition, visitors who stay at a participating Big Bear lodge or motel can receive a $25 gas purchase card.
The California Department of Fish and Game, which requires those over 16 to buy an annual fishing license for $32.80, waives the requirement twice annually, in spring and in fall. Saturday is the free day for fall.
