The owners of Culver Studios said they intended to build a speculative $25-million office building across the street from the historic movie studios in Culver City.
Los Angeles-based Pacifica Ventures, part of a partnership that purchased the studios in April, said it would build a three-story, 115,000-square-foot office complex with ground-floor shops and restaurants on Washington Boulevard at Ince Boulevard. The studios and the new complex are to be joined by a pedestrian bridge.
Pacifica plans to develop the building with San Diego-based Rush Properties, which would provide financing for the project. The architect is GKK Corp., also of San Diego.
* Chelsea Property Group Inc., a shopping center owner being acquired by Simon Property Group Inc., bought the 289,000-square-foot outlet mall Carlsbad Company Stores in Carlsbad, Calif., for $102.9 million.
