Document ‘Sniffer’ to Be Tested at L.A. Airport

The U.S. Transportation Security Administration announced Wednesday that it will test a device that “sniffs” boarding passes, driver’s licenses and other documents for explosives at Los Angeles, John F. Kennedy and O’Hare international airports.
Passengers who are selected for secondary screening will have their boarding passes scanned by the equipment. The system is in place at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport.
Tests will last at least 30 days.
