* Ashley Engle, Anaheim Esperanza: Had 71 kills in eight matches and was selected tournament MVP after the Aztecs defeated Long Beach Millikan for the Capistrano Valley tournament title.
BOYS’ WATER POLO
* Danny Polyakov, Agoura: The tournament MVP had three goals, two assists and two steals in a 9-6 victory over Thousand Oaks in the Buena tournament final.
CROSS-COUNTRY
* Fitsum Tesfa, Chino Don Lugo: Won the Division I boys’ race at the Stanford Invitational in 15:10. Brandon Bethke of Lake Forest El Toro was third in 15:14.
