A man was killed and five other people were wounded Sunday evening in what police said appeared to be a gang-related shooting near Watts.
One of the victims, a woman, was in critical condition with a wound to the head. The conditions and genders of the other victims were not disclosed.
Residents in the 900 block of East 113th Street began calling police shortly before 6 p.m., said Officer Eduardo Funes, a spokesman for the Los Angeles Police Department. Some reported hearing up to 30 gunshots.
Three of those shot were taken by ambulance to area hospitals, and the three others made their way to emergency rooms in personal vehicles, police said.
