‘Erase-E(x)’ replaces opera

Richard Foreman and Michael Gordon’s opera “What to Wear?,” which was to open the REDCAT fall season in September, has been postponed. Director-librettist Gordon recently had triple-bypass surgery and asked for the delay.
In its place will be the U.S. premiere of “Erase-E(x),” a dance-theater piece by Belgian choreographer Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker, dancer Johanne Saunier and scenic designer Jim Clayburgh. Charles Francois will be a guest performer. Inspired by Robert Rauschenberg’s 1953 erasure of a drawing by Willem de Kooning, “Erase-E(x)” will open the REDCAT season Sept. 21.

“What to Wear?” -- A Quick Takes item in Wednesday’s Calendar section said the Richard Foreman-Michael Gordon opera “What to Wear?” had been postponed at REDCAT because director-librettist Gordon recently had triple-bypass surgery and asked for the delay. In fact, Foreman is the director-librettist and requested the delay because of his surgery.
“What to Wear?” will premiere in the 2006 season.
