Banks Ignore Tools to Protect Consumers

Regarding “Suspecting Eyes Turn to Insiders,” July 4:
The technology to track every single access to every database in both the inquiry and batch modes has been around for many years.
If banks are not tracking which employees are accessing which data elements and how frequently and then correlating that with the need and past historical access of that employee, then they cannot claim that they are protecting their customers from potential theft.
Bank management and employees should understand that the “trust but verify” philosophy is the key to customer information security.
