L.A. film group gets new name

The organization that sponsors the L.A. Film Festival and the Independent Spirit Awards has changed its name.
Film Independent, or FIND, as the former IFP/Los Angeles will now be known, will still produce those signature events, as well as continue to assist and promote the independent filmmaking community of greater Los Angeles, Executive Director Dawn Hudson said this week.
The move is widely seen as a way for the West Coast group to further separate and distinguish itself from its East Coast counterpart, the Independent Feature Project.
Staff and membership will not change, nor will any of the educational or mentoring programs, screening activities or other aspects of the organization.
