Snow Holds Up Probe of Pipeline Leak Damage

State wildlife officials say they’ll have to wait until the snow melts on Donner Summit to see how much damage was done by a fuel pipeline leak last month.
Universal Environmental, a private company hired by pipeline owner Kinder Morgan, is cleaning up the fuel and testing Summit Creek and Donner Lake each day for contamination.
The 8-inch pipeline carries unleaded gasoline, diesel and jet fuel from the San Francisco Bay area to northern Nevada.
