Times Are Interesting, Yes, but Is That Good?

Regarding “Keep Watching Dollar, No Matter What China Does,” James Flanigan (May 8):
It was interesting to note how Flanigan closed out his column: “Meanwhile, as the Chinese say, we will ‘live in interesting times.’ ”
As the Chinese will tell you, this is not a benediction but a malediction. “May you live in interesting times” is a well-known Chinese curse.
