ISSUE: Alcohol and drug prevention
VOTE: 5-0
SUMMARY: The board approved an agreement with the Orange County
superintendent of schools to provide funds to implement the anti-drug
‘Club Live’ program.
The community-based program seeks to develop alternatives to alcohol
and drug use by altering the environments that contribute to these
activities.
The Orange County Department of Education will reimburse the district
$1,000 per school site advisor.
ISSUE: District database
VOTE: 5-0
SUMMARY: The board approved a contract with Data Works to maintain a
districtwide data base that provides student performance data for
educational planning and accountability purposes.
The California Department of Education requires that accountability
data be reported each November.
For the 1999-2000 school year, Data Works will charge the district
$12,000.
ISSUE: Consultant services VOTE: 5-0 SUMMARY: The board approved
funding for the California Weekly Explorer Program, which provides an
interactive assembly for fourth- and fifth-grade classes. The cost of the
Explorer program is $1,285.
The consultant services of Donna Inglima of the Laguna Playhouse were
also approved. The play, “By the Great Horn Spoon” is a curriculum-based
play for fourth- and fifth-graders. Inglima’s services cost the district
$600.
