Girls soccer: Mesa ties Laguna Beach

LAGUNA BEACH - Two second-half goals by Costa Mesa High’s girls
soccer team enabled the Mustangs escape with a 2-2 Pacific Coast League
tie with host Laguna Beach Tuesday evening.
After the Artists jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first half, Sharon Day
and Katie Roche scored to deadlock the contest.
Day’s goal came in the 42nd minute, while Roche’s tally came in the 78th
minute.
Margaret Landeros had six saves for the Mustangs (8-3-8, 2-2-3 in
league), who hold a one-point edge over University for third place in the
PCL.
The Trojans hold the tiebreaker edge over the Mustangs, so Thursday’s
3:15 p.m. clash with host CdM is vital to Mesa’s playoff chances.
