A’s win twice

The A’s completed an undefeated week in Huntington Valley Little

League Majors Division play Saturday by edging the Rangers, 7-6, at

Inspiration Field.

Jeremy Brock delivered a two-run home run and also tripled, Evan Strand

went 2 for 3 with a double and RBI, Jordan Marquette had an RBI double,

Brandon Kinney had a hit and RBI, Shayne Robinson had an RBI single, and

Kevin Oakley doubled to power the A’s.

Max Hirsch and Ryan Van Herk both had RBI hits for the Rangers.

Earlier in the week, the A’s defeated the Diamondbacks, 6-1, as Kevin

Oakley hit a two-run double, Curtis Crandell had an RBI single,

Marquette, Robinson, and Brock each doubled, and Robinson pitched a

complete game, allowing just two hits, an RBI single to Jon Van Dyke and

a double to Jenna Balester.

Mariners 6, Angels 2

Lucas Aumiller hit a two-run home run in the sixth inning and also

doubled and singled, Matt McGwire went 3 for 3, and Daniel Miller and

Scott Lindman each went 2 for 3 for the Mariners; Joe Byers went 2 for 3

and Nick Feldman doubled for the Angels.

Diamondbacks 5, White Sox 4

Starting pitcher Reece Engle went 2 for 2, scored twice, and scattered

five hits, closer Derek Demun went 2 for 3 with a double and held off a

White Sox rally in the fifth inning, and Jenna Balester went 2 for 3.

Angels 12, Rangers 8

Michael Hensley homered and singled twice with three RBI, Frankie Mead

doubled three times and had an RBI, Kirk Hodgman went 2 for 2, Michael

Jacinto tripled, Ricky Pineda went 2 for 3 with an RBI, and Mitchel Queen

had an RBI hit to power the Angels; Ryan Van Herk had a pair of doubles,

Mike Rhodes went 2 for 3 with an RBI, David Mendoza went 2 for 4 with an

RBI, Max Hirsch and Matt Bottorff each had two hits, and Sean Tierney and

Cody Steiner both doubled for the Rangers.

Mariners 5, White Sox 0

Nate Hill went 2 for 3 with a double and Lucas Aumiller also doubled for

the Mariners; Shawn Eley went 2 for 2 and John Pollock went 2 for 3 for

the White Sox.
