* Air Force Airman Yui Chang graduated from basic military training at

Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. During the training, Chang

studied the Air Force mission, organization and customs and received

special training in human relations. Chang is a 2000 graduate of Fountain

Valley High School . . . Army Spc. Nicholas Pedroza has arrived for duty

at Schofield Barracks in Oahu, Hawaii. Pedroza is an infantryman assigned

to Bravo Company, 1st Battalion, 27th Infantry. He is the son of Richard

Pedroza of Huntington Beach . . . Air Force Airman Mark A. Quiroz has

graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San

Antonio, Texas. During the training, the airman studied the Air Force

relations. He is the son of Sandra Madrid of Huntington Beach . . .

Huntington Beach resident Adrian K. Walas has joined the United States

Army Reserve under the Delayed Training Program. Walas has reported for

basic training at Fort Leonard Wood in Waynesville, Mo. He is the son of

Henryka N. Walas . . .Huntington Beach resident Marlene Hamontree of

Huntington Beach was honored by the Orange County Red Cross chapter for

her volunteer work . . . Huntington Beach resident Gary W. Williams II is

on a six-month deployment to the Arabian Gulf on board the USS Kinkaid.

Williams is the son of Sally Behnke . . . Leslie Barkemeyer, daughter of

Barbara and Don Barkemeyer of Huntington Beach, was elected as the

student member of the Cornell University Board of Trustees.
