Water polo: OCC women top-seeded

Orange Coast College women’s water polo, the No. 1-ranked team in
the state, will open in the quarterfinals of the Southern California
Regional playoffs as the No. 1 seed Friday at Cypress College.
The Pirates (30-1), who defeated Riverside City College, 10-6, to
claim the Orange Empire Conference tournament title Saturday, receive a
first-round bye in the regionals. They will meet the winner of
Wednesday’s first-round clash between Cuesta and Fullerton at 10:15 a.m.
If victorious, OCC would advance to the semifinals Saturday at 11:30.
The championship game is scheduled for Saturday at 5 p.m.
The OCC men’s team (15-17), which fell in the quarterfinals of the OEC
tournament and finished fifth, is seeded 11th and play at No. 6-seeded
Cuesta Wednesday at 3 p.m.
If victorious, the OCC men would meet No. 3-seeded Long Beach in a
4:45 p.m. quarterfinal Friday at Cypress.
The semifinals and final is scheduled Saturday at Cypress.
