THE LAST WORD

If there’s one thing we can say about Paul Folino, it’s that he cares.

In fact, it’s easy to say he cares a lot about the arts at South Coast

Repertory.

A little over a week ago, the theater company announced that Folino,

president and chief executive of Emulex, donated $7.5 million to fund

programming at the new complex. The gift brought his overall contribution

to $10 million -- a good fifth of the group’s current $50-million

campaign. So, far $40 million has been raised.

The new complex will now be dubbed the Folino Theatre Complex to

recognize the record-breaking donor.

It’s quite obvious that the repertory group more than appreciates

Folino’s contribution to the new complex. Everyone else should, too.
