SG Roofing wins three straight

Sammy Witte pitched a complete-game two-hitter and regular season
champion SG Roofing stayed in contention for the postseason AAA
Division title by eliminating Five Feet, 8-2, in Laguna Beach Little
League action at Riddle Field.
Michael Hyden’s three-run triple in the second inning gave SG
Roofing a 3-0 lead, which was extended to 5-0 on Tyler Kesler’s RBI
single.
In the third, Alex Gromet and Alex Gustis, each doubled and scored
to make it a 7-0 game.
Five Feet’s Sam Hilburn began the bottom of the third with a
single and scored his team’s first run when he came home on Alex
Iannotti’s ground out.
Jake Glazer doubled and scored on Gustis’ sacrifice fly to make it
8-1 but Five Feet responded with its second run of the game when Evan
Steinhoff walked on scored on Brian Vail’s base hit.

Alex Gromet accounted for four of SG Roofing’s eight runs wit ha
triple and line-shot single as his team avenged a tournament opening
loss to First Team Nolan.
The pitching of Jake Glazer and Tyler Kesler, plus the defensive
play of Sammy Witte and Evan Rubel, helped preserve the victory.
Sebastian Schott had a two-run double and Austin Hilleman had an
RBI single for Team Nolan.
Team Nolan appeared in control early when Schott hit his two-run
double and Ben Hanson stole home in opening up a 3-0 first inning
lead. In the third, the lead grew to 5-0 when Sam Simon and Hilleman
scored.
SG Roofing began to rally in the bottom-half of the third. They
posted five runs to even up the score with Witte, Alex Gromet, Alex
Gustis and Austin Muhlhauser getting hits.
Team Nolan regained the lead, 6-5, in the sixth when Beau
Heussen-Stamm scored on Hilleman’s base hit, and had the chance to
build on that lead when Travis Sampson drilled a shot to centerfield
with bases loaded.
SG Roofing’s Evan Rubel prevented any further runs by snagging the
ball for the final out of the inning.

Michael Hyden came up with three hits, Sam Witte, Jake Glazer and
Alex Gromet each had two hits and Austin Muhlhauser hit a towering
double in leading SG Roofing to victory.
The score was tied at 9-9 heading into the bottom of the fourth
inning where SG Roofing pushed across four runs to take control.
