The Laguna Beach National Junior Basketball third- and fourth-grade
boys’ basketball team began the New Year on a winning note, as it
routed the Trabuco Pistons, 46-26.
Laguna trailed early in the game but its defense, behind a 1-3-1
zone, soon took command and limited the Pistons to just three baskets
after the first quarter of play.
Austin Hilleman scored a basket and later hit two free throws as
Laguna, which shut down Trabuco in the second quarter, pulled away to
a seven-point lead.
The defense again stymied the Pistons in the third quarter,
limiting them to just a three-point basket.
Every Laguna player contributed to the victory.
Remington Zona led Laguna with 10 points and Andrew Jensen and
Santi Pierini each scored eight.
Jake Dalke finished with six points, Jack Pillsbury scored key
baskets, Bryan Ludloff and Larry Stewart had several assists and Zack
Jaffe played a solid game on offense.
Laguna returns to action Sunday for a 1:40 p.m. game at Trabuco
Hills High.
