The recently completed Junior Olympics volleyball competition had a
Laguna Beach flavor to it, as three local athletes came up with big
performances in divisional play.
At the boys’ Junior Olympics volleyball tournament held in
Louisville, Ky., USC-bound Luke Morris was named to the 18-Open
Division 12-player all-tournament team.
In addition, he was named to Volleyball Monthly’s Fab-50 list.
Morris, who was the key figure on the Laguna boys’ varsity team
this year, and his younger brother, Seth, who played in the 14-Open
Division, each earned a bronze medal by playing on teams that
finished their respective tournaments in third-place.
Also earning honors was Laguna sophomore setter Clay Knapp, who
was recognized in the 15-Open Division.
Sophomore hitter Dana Hutchinson was named to the 15-Open girls’
all-tournament team at the girls’ Junior Olympics held at Salt Lake
City.
Hutchinson, along with fellow Laguna athletes Laurelle Hofer and
Paige Obradovich, all played for the Roxy Beach 15’s squad, which
finished third in its division.
