Quest for CIF championships continues

Here’s one sure sign that it’s postseason time for spring sports ? earlier wake-up calls. At least that’s the case for area boys’ golf and tennis teams this week as they vie for coveted championship berths.

The week begins with the CIF Southern Section boys’ golf Southern Individual Regional at SeaCliff Country Club in Huntington Beach.

Among those making the 7 a.m. shotgun start are Newport Harbor High’s Bryce Greely, Corona del Mar’s David Su and Estancia’s Marcus Sostak, Greg Les, Garrett McMasters and Ryan Knapp.

On Friday, it’ll be the Southern Section individual tennis regional at the Costa Mesa Tennis Center. Check-in time will be 8:45 a.m. for Sage Hill’s Robert Wee and Martin Park, as well as Estancia’s Scott Braunsdorf in the singles division. The doubles begins at 10 a.m., including Fabian Matthews and Dustin Hladek (Corona del Mar) and Ely Zaidler and Danny O’Neil (Estancia).
