Crystal Cove cottage reservations were fair

The release of the Historic Cottages at Crystal Cove State Park for overnight reservations generated unprecedented response by those wanting to spend a few nights at Crystal Cove State Park. The demand obviously far exceeded our inventory of available cottages. We ask that those who wish to stay overnight at the Crystal Cove State Park Historic District to be patient and hopefully everyone will get the opportunity to experience this exceptional resource. In the meantime, please come to the park for the day and discover the natural and cultural wonders of your beautiful park.

As I read in the Daily Pilot’s Readers Respond feature on May 3, it was clear that some of the paper’s readers believe that the reservation system run by ReserveAmerica is set up to give preferential treatment to those who have previously used the state parks system or have some type of “inside” connection. That does not happen. I would like to assure Daily Pilot readers that California State Parks, the Crystal Cove Alliance and ReserveAmerica are committed to a fair and equitable reservation system.
