Vanguard 84, Westmont 57COSTA MESA — Junior Jessica Richter made 11 of 16 field-goal tries, including four of six three-pointers to pace the Lions with 30 points in this Golden State Athletic Conference game Saturday.
Richter led Vanguard with eight rebounds, while Kelly Schmidt scored 13 points and Lacey Burns added 10 points.
The Lions (10-0, 5-0 in conference), ranked No. 1 in NAIA Division I, finished 33 of 54 from the field (61.1%) and outrebounded the Warriors, 38-21.
Andrea Jacobson came off the bench to contribute nine points and four rebounds.
Ali Mooty scored 18 points to lead Westmont, which dropped to 9-3, 4-1.
Vanguard returns to action Tuesday, when they play at San Diego Christian at 5:30 p.m.

Angie Ned scored a game-high 20 points and Annie Mai added 19 for UCI, which fell to 3-12, 1-1 in conference.
Mai made six of nine field-goal attempts and led the visitors with five assists.
UCSB improved to 7-8, 3-1.

Gregory Scott came off the bench to score 10 points for Vanguard (4-10, 1-4). Matt Davis led the Lions with seven rebounds. Vanguard was outrebounded, 31-23.
Reserve Luke Allen, who scored 16 points to lead Westmont, was one of four Warriors (8-4, 3-2) in double digits.
