LONG BEACH — UC Irvine is in second place following the first two rounds Thursday at Virginia Country Club.

Colorado State, with four players in the top seven spots, leads the 15-team field with a 36-hole total of 33-under 535. UCI and Texas-San Antonio are tied for second with 12-under scores of 556.

Zahkai Brown of Colorado State is the individual leader with a two-round total of 13-under 129 (66-63).

UCI junior John Chin is second at 10-under 132 (67-65). Senior Sean Shahi (67-74) and freshman Roberto Francioni (67-74) are tied for 15th place at one-under 141.

Senior Cean Hayashi Geronimo is 35th at 144 (74-70) and freshman Michael Im is 51st at 147 (75-72).

The tournament concludes with the final 18 holes today.

IRVINE — Freshman goalkeeper Andrew Fontein had fives saves for the No. 19-ranked Anteatesr in their Big West Conference match Wednesday night at Anteater stadium.

Fontein earned his third shutout of the season for UCI (8-1-4, 1-1-2 in confernce). Matadors goalie Kevin Guppy finished with nine saves after two overtime periods.

The Anteaters fired off 22 shots, while the Matadors had eight.

UCI had 14 fouls to 28 for Cal State Northridge in the match.

The Anteaters return to action Wednesday, as they travel to San Luis Obispo to take on Cal Poly at 7 p.m. in Big West play at Mustang Stadium.
