New preschool to open up in September

Ocean View School District is opening a new preparatory preschool program in September at Pleasant View School.

Pleasant View, a previously closed site the district leased out, has been refurbished and given playground equipment to host the Ocean View Preparatory Preschool, said Holly Marvin, district communications supervisor.

The district is planning to open three to five classes depending on enrollment, Marvin said. The program will be open to 3- to 5-year-old children for morning, afternoon or full-day preschool. Student-to-teacher ratios are about 12:1, with two teachers in every class and a maximum 20 students.

The district is hosting a family barbecue at 10 a.m. to noon Aug. 15 at the preschool campus. Parents and children can tour the classrooms and playground and have a free lunch.

The preparatory preschool is an addition to the district’s state preschool, 11 elementary schools and four middle schools. For more information on the program, call (714) 847-2551.
