The Forbidden Jungle

One of the county’s most popular haunted house attractions, the Forbidden Jungle will feature a multi-sensory, all-ages, interactive tour through a haunted jungle. Organizers call it an Indiana Jones-style adventure with giant bugs, swamp creatures and undead mummies who guard a cursed jungle tomb.

Pumpkins & Pancakes — A Children’s Halloween Extravaganza is a family Halloween celebration that benefits Court Appointed Special Advocates, which strives to help victims of child abuse by training community volunteers to speak on their behalf and assist them.
There will be a costume contest; visits with characters like Hello Kitty, Strawberry Shortcake and Wild Wing; a gourmet pancake breakfast provided by Plums Café and Catering; skateboard demonstrations by Basics of Skateboarding; music; arts and crafts; balloon artists; a live bird show provided by Rainforest Café; complimentary family photos; storytellers; opportunity drawings; and prizes.
Halos N’ Horns Music Festival

This KROQ-backed Halloween music festival will include a cash prize for the best costume. Confirmed acts to date include Korn, Shiny Toy Guns, Girl Talk, Shwazye featuring Cisco Adler, BassNectar, Iglu and Hartly, Far East Movement, KIDS at the Bar, Emarosa, Austrian Death Machine, I am Ghost, the Union Sound and I:Alive.
In total, more than 100 bands will perform on 13 stages.
Trick or Trunk

St. Joachim School of Costa Mesa is currently planning its fifth annual Trick or Trunk Halloween event, where part of the school’s parking lot will be converted into an eerie Halloween setting. St. Joachim’s families will decorate their cars in Halloween fashions and wait for children to come by to trick or treat. The students help decorate the vehicle’s trunk.
Decorators of the best trunks of the evening receive prizes for either most creative or most spooky. The church welcomes people from neighboring communities.

With five “mega-stages,” more than 60,000 square feet of space, 10 deejays and nine live bands, the costume ball is expecting more than 8,000 adult guests. The evening’s setups include a haunted pumpkin patch; VIP lounge with express entry, private bars and giveaways; and special room deals with local hotels. General admission tickets are $30 presale or $40 at the door; VIP tickets are $75 pre-sale and $100 at the door.
