Update: The Galaxy swept the regular-season and playoff series against the Sounders in 2010, outscoring Seattle, 10-2. Los Angeles goalkeeper Donovan Ricketts was shaken up in a preseason friendly against Tijuana, and backup Josh Saunders might start in his place. Defender Gregg Berhalter remained in Carson with a knee ligament injury. Seattle is coached by former Galaxy coach Sigi Schmid, who sees Landon Donovan as the Galaxy’s main threat. “When you start with Donovan, you’re a good team,” Schmid told the Seattle Times. “[If he’s] not the most influential player in the league, I’d be hard-pressed to name another.” Midfielder Brad Evans could miss the game for Seattle after suffering a hamstring injury in the Sounders’ final preseason warmup match. A total of 7,997 goals have been scored since MLS was launched in 1996, meaning that the 8,000th goal could be scored in this game.
