Carnival has had a long partnership with Seuss Enterprises, Carnival’s Duffy said, so guests can enjoy Dr. Seuss and his Things on all ships. Carnival ships, including Horizon, have Seuss characters on board for meet-and-greets, a Seuss parade and a Dr. Seuss Bookville reading-and-play room next to Camp Ocean.
Horizon also has a Seuss Breakfast complete with green eggs and ham. “We decorate the dining room; it’s really a Seussical event,” Duffy said.

The slides land at the water park, complete with a giant bucket, a row of spraying arches and other interactive water elements.

Parents can enjoy the adult side of the ship thanks to Horizon’s Ocean Club, which offers drop-off camps for kids starting at age 2. The kids programs run every sailing day until 10 p.m., with a Penguins program for ages 2 to 5, Stingrays for ages 6 to 8 and Sharks for ages 9 to 11. A fee-based after-hours camp program continues until 1 a.m. each night so parents can enjoy the ship’s shows, bars and dining while their kids party in their own space.

Carnival Horizon’s Family Harbor cabins are designed for families with children. The cabins also give guests access to the Family Harbor lounge, so kids can wake up early and get a light breakfast, watch movies or cartoons and play games in an exclusive space close to their cabins.

In the back half of the ship is the SkyRide, a suspended foot-pedaled glider that guests can race on a rail around the SkyCourse ropes course and SkyCourt basketball courts on the rear top deck. Below the launching point of the SkyRide is a Sports Square with pool tables and mini golf. There is also a SkyFitness center on that deck that allows guests to get a birds-eye view of the ocean while working out and stretching.
