Tours & cruises: Portland’s public gardens and nurseries

Mike Darcy, the host of an Oregon radio show about gardening, serves as a guide during the Pacific Horticulture Society’s “Portland‘s Extraordinary Gardens” tour, which includes docent-led visits to the region’s public gardens and nurseries, as well as art-filled private gardens. Highlights include the Portland Japanese Garden, the Lan Su Chinese Garden and an organic urban farm.
Itinerary: Portland to surrounding areas, Salem and back
Dates: July 9-14. Book early; trip is limited to 22 people.
Price: $1,148, double occupancy ($396 single supplement), including five nights at the all-suite Inn at Northrup Station, some meals (mostly in gardens) and a $100 donation to the Pacific Horticulture Society. The price does not include gratuities, some meals or airfare.
