The Ducks, who can slip into 10th place in the Western Conference with a victory, held Detroit to three shots in the first period Wednesday. However, the Ducks’ solid play didn’t extend to the offensive and the game is scoreless.
The Ducks killed off a five-on-three situation late in the period, holding the Red Wings without a shot on goal. The Red Wings’ Niklas Kromwall did hit the post.
The Ducks have lost five of their last six games. Detroit has won six consecutive road games.
