Boyle Heights: Jose Fuentes, 43

Jose Fuentes, a 43-year-old Latino, was beaten and stabbed Monday, Dec. 7, in the 2500 block of East Whittier Boulevard in Boyle Heights. He died three days later at a hospital, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s officials.

Craig Harvey, chief coroner investigator, said Fuentes apparently grabbed a baseball bat and confronted two people. One person then pulled out a knife and stabbed him.

He was stabbed about 6 p.m. on Dec. 7 and died at 8:50 a.m. on Dec. 10, Harvey said.
