Boys’ basketball: L.A. Washington trying to improve

L.A. Washington, a City Section Division I semifinalist last season, has five losses this season, and the team is trying to get back on track.
On Saturday, Washington knocked off Valencia, 65-62, in a game from the Showdown at College of the Canyons. All-City guard Michaelyn Scott had 14 points.
In other games from the tournament, Renaissance defeated LACES, 55-51. Anthony Cost had 21 points for Renaissance.
Ribet defeated Hart, 58-55. Greg Seanele led Ribet with 20 points.
Compton Centennial defeated Reseda Cleveland, 41-39, with Daniel Edozie scoring 12 points.
Chatsworth defeated Community Charter, 55-37, improving to 16-3. Jason Monje scored 14 points. L.A. Price defeated West Ranch, 58-18.
