92nd Ojai Valley Tennis Tournament Set

One of Ventura County’s rites of spring will begin its 92nd run today as the Ojai Valley tennis tournament opens play.
A total of 56 players from the San Fernando Valley and 91 from Ventura County will be among the participants in a highly competitive field as the oldest amateur tennis tournament in the U. S. returns to Ojai’s Libbey Park and other sites throughout Ventura County.
Players will compete in 33 divisions, ranging from college and open to junior. Twins Mike and Bob Bryan of Camarillo are the top two seeded players in the boys’ 14-year-old and under singles. Simi Valley’s Lisa and Michelle Richard are the favorites in the girls’ 18 and under doubles.
In addition to the top-notch juniors, the Pac-10 and Big West will conduct their conference championships.
Junior finals will be held Saturday and the other championships will be held Sunday.
