Huntington Park : 2 Trash Haulers Get Council Approval to Increase Rates
- Share via
The City Council has given preliminary authorization to the city’s two trash haulers to raise rates for residential and commercial customers to make up for increased operating costs.
Western Waste Industries, which picks up residential trash, wants to increase its rates by 9%. H.P. Disposal, which hauls commercial and industrial waste, would raise its rates by 6%. The council is scheduled to give final approval July 15.
The council also approved a 17-cent charge to residential customers that will be collected by the city to pay for its administrative costs. The city bills residential customers.
The residential rate increases are scheduled to show up on September bills. Monthly charges for residential customers would rise from $7.75 to $8.62. Business owners would see the increase on their August bills, said John Marderosian, general manager of H.P. Disposal.
