Fourth of July

One way to celebrate Independence Day is to wave the flag and shout hurrah, go picnicking, watch the parade and fireworks display and show how patriotic we are.
Another way is to live those “truths we hold to be self-evident” and do all we can to make “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness” equally available to all Americans, including minorities and the poor. Isn’t that what the Fourth of July is about?
