A 44-year-old Encinitas man died after being hit by a car as he was crossing a road, authorities said.
Rodolfo Ibanez Padilla walked into the path of a car at 8:35 p.m. Thursday as he was crossing El Camino Real in Encinitas, California Highway Patrol Officer Jerry Bohrer said.
The driver, Patrick O’Neil, 18, of Encinitas, will not be cited, Bohrer said. “The pedestrian just suddenly ran out in front of him,” Bohrer said.
Ibanez was taken to Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla where he died at 9:45 p.m., said Chuck Bolton, a county medical examiner investigator.
