United Expected to Bid for Pan Am Routes: United Airlines is expected to make a pitch to buy Pan American World Airways’ Latin American routes and some of its European routes, an industry source said. Delta Air Lines has already offered to buy Pan Am’s trans-Atlantic routes, 45 airplanes and its Northeast shuttle.
