The Pebble Beach Co. won approval from the Monterey County Board of Supervisors by a vote of 4-1 to charge six-figure membership fees that will limit public play at the scenic seaside links.
The proposal was amended to ensure the general public be guaranteed at least one hour of tee times each day--twice the amount in the original plan. Board Chairman Sam Karas said he is convinced the deal will actually give outsiders a better chance of playing the Pebble Beach Golf Links.
