Monrovia : 10% Water Cut Ordered
The City Council adopted a 10% mandatory water conservation plan on Tuesday, even though Monrovia residents already are conserving more than 10% voluntarily.
The mandatory plan was put into effect to make sure everyone saves water, said Public Works Director Robert K. Sandwick.
Starting Aug. 1, residents will be required to use no more than 90% of the amount of water they used in August, 1989. They will be billed at 2.5 times the regular rate for any water they use over the 90% goal.
An appeal process is available for people whose households have increased since fiscal year 1989-90 or who have other reasons for using more water.
