An elementary school janitor pleaded not guilty Wednesday in Van Nuys Municipal Court to charges that he molested two young boys who were using the Canoga Park school’s playground after hours.
Ronald Wayne Jackson, 35, of Van Nuys is charged with molesting a 10-year-old boy and a 4-year-old boy on the grounds of Capistrano Avenue Elementary School, said Deputy Dist. Atty. Eduards Richards Abele.
Jackson worked as a custodian and was a “relatively new employee” of the Los Angeles Unified School District, said district spokeswoman Diana Munatones.
She declined to provide additional information.
Abele said that Jackson was arrested Tuesday after the parents of the older boy, who attended the school, told police that their son had accused the janitor of molesting him.
If convicted, Jackson, who is being held in lieu of $60,000 bail, could be imprisoned for up to two years.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled in the case for July 26.
