Fiesta at Mission San Luis Rey

The Mission San Luis Rey in Oceanside hosts its annual fiesta with mariachis, food and arts and crafts Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Admission and parking are free.
The fiesta begins at 6 p.m. Friday with carnival rides. Mexican music by Tropical, Rancheras, and Nortenas will be performed from 7 to 11 p.m.
Saturday’s festivities begin at 10 a.m. with an opening prayer and the blessing of the animals ceremony, to which pets may be brought.
Also on Saturday morning, the fiesta’s queen and her court will be introduced. The day’s activities include face painting, magic shows, music, clowns, and Mexican and Scottish dancing. A concert finishes the day at 11 p.m.
Mass will be celebrated from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Sunday at the Mission. Mexicayotl Indian dancers follow at 11:30 a.m.
The Trek Riders will also re-enact a piece of California history from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday. Dancing and music fill the rest of the day until the end of the fiesta at 6 p.m.
