As cities and states across the country grapple with economic hardships and enormous budget deficits, “This Week With David Brinkley” visits Los Angeles Sunday at 10:30 a.m. (7)(3)(10)(42), to discuss whether California’s economic troubles and solutions are indicative of those elsewhere. Gov. Pete Wilson and Assembly Speaker Willie L. Brown Jr. join the show’s usual cast.
Police Chief Daryl Gates’ future and the aftermath of the Christopher Commission’s report on the Los Angeles Police Department will again be the topic of two programs Sunday. Early risers can catch City Council members Michael Woo and John Ferraro discussing these matters on Channel 4’s “News Conference” at 6:30 a.m. Ferraro will also appear on “Newsmakers” at 10:30 a.m. on Channel 2 along with Police Commissioner Stanley Sheinbaum and Geoffrey Taylor Gibbs of the Langston Bar Assn. of Black Attorneys.
