TV Reviews : Familiar Advice on ‘Healthy Aging’
- Share via
Make no mistake about it: “Healthy Aging,” airing tonight at 10 on KCET Channel 28, is more a lecture than a TV show, more a “how to” video than a documentary.
That’s not necessarily bad--if you can suspend your conditioned response to expect flashy entertainment from the tube. While dry, this latest segment of KCET’s “Lifeguides” series does have some valuable information to impart.
The “how to” in this case happens to be a guide to the art and science of living longer. The science is the method to providing the art of old age--keeping old age vital, meaningful and loving.
The premise of “Healthy Aging” is simple and delivered over and over again by host Dr. Kenneth R. Pelletier: We hold the key to our own longevity and the quality of our old age in our daily habits.
Most of this is familiar ground, some of it too familiar. The show is divided into segments covering nutrition (reduce fat, eat your veggies!), exercise (just do it!) and stress management (smell the roses!).
Still, it’s information that can help. All the experts seem to agree that it’s never too late or too soon to make some simple changes that will result in better health.
