South Gate : Council Places Card Club Plan on November Ballot
- Share via
Voters in South Gate will have the opportunity to decide in November whether they want to allow a card club in their community. On Monday, the City Council unanimously voted to put the measure on the ballot.
A group of investors, known as the Greater Los Angeles Development Group, is proposing to build a hotel and card club in one of the city’s redevelopment areas. The area is east of the 710 Freeway at the corner of Firestone Boulevard and Garfield Avenue.
The card club and hotel would be part of an entertainment complex that would also include resturants and banquet facilities. Originally, the development group planned to build a hotel and office complex. However, with the abundance of office space in the Southland, the group decided instead to propose a card club, said Andrew Pasmant, South Gate’s community development director.
