THOUSAND OAKS : Alliance Formed With Soviet City
- Share via
Thousand Oaks officials have decided to create a cultural and educational partnership with a Soviet city.
The City Council on Tuesday night unanimously approved a resolution to adopt Spitak, a town in Soviet Armenia, as its municipal partner.
The resolution formalizes ties that Thousand Oaks has had with Spitak since the Soviet city was hit by a massive earthquake on Dec. 7, 1988.
A committee of Thousand Oaks citizens will plan professional, educational and cultural exchanges through Sister Cities International of Alexandria, Va.
