Nation IN BRIEF : CONNECTICUT : Elite Yale Club Votes to Admit Women

Alumni members of Skull and Bones, an elite secret society at Yale University in New Haven, have narrowly voted to admit women and end a rift that closed the club. A club alumnus said the vote was about 360 to 320. In mid-April, the directors of Skull and Bones--whose roster includes President Bush--suspended undergraduate activities for a year after 15 seniors defied their elders by deciding on their own to admit women. The board then changed the locks on the club’s meetinghouse and announced it would not recognize the 15 women and men tapped from the junior class as members.
