Rap Security: Madison Square Garden officials are trying to assure the public that there will be adequate security tonight at New York’s first arena-size rap concert which comes in the wake of last week’s tragedy at a charity basketball game featuring rap singers. A capacity crowd of more than 16,000 is expected for tonight’s show that features Public Enemy, Kid ‘n’ Play, D. J. Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince, the Geto Boys, Queen Latifah and Naughty by Nature. A Garden spokeswoman said that “the situations are different. We have professional crowd control. We’re in the business of concert-giving, so we have to know what we’re doing.” Nine people were killed in a stampede at last week’s basketball game at City College of New York.
