THOUSAND OAKS : Man Charged With Using Fake Badge

A fire extinguisher salesman who reportedly flashed a fake fire marshal’s badge at a Thousand Oaks hair salon will be tried on impersonation charges, a Ventura County prosecutor said Thursday.
Bruce Spencer, 52, of Agoura Hills faces a total of six misdemeanor charges of impersonating a fire marshal and presenting false documents, said Deputy Dist. Atty. Karen Block. His trial is scheduled to begin Jan. 21.
Spencer pleaded not guilty at his arraignment earlier this week, Block said. Prosecutors say Spencer used fake badges imprinted with the words “California State Fire Marshal” to drum up business for the company he was working for, Stars and Stripes Fire Protection of Simi Valley.
If convicted, Spencer could face up to a $1,000 fine and six months in jail for each violation.
