ORANGE — A Huntington Beach man on Thursday escaped from custody while on a jail work detail with other prisoners, authorities said.
Ricardo Reyes Perez, 22, was working in a riverbed with other inmates of the Theo Lacy Branch Jail in Orange when he was discovered missing at 1:05 p.m., Sheriff’s Lt. Richard J. Olson said. Details of the escape were not immediately available.
Perez was arrested Dec. 3, 1991, on suspicion of drug possession and sale. He was due to be released from custody on Feb. 16, Olson said.
Perez has black hair and brown eyes, is 5 feet, 2 inches tall and weighs 115 pounds, authorities said. He was wearing blue, jail-issued clothing when he fled.
