Al Bagnoli was named coach at Pennsylvania and promised to return the football program to the excellence of the early 1980s, when it won or shared six Ivy League titles. Bagnoli, 38, coach at Division III Union College in New York the past 10 years, was given a multiyear contract as successor to Gary Steele, who resigned in November after a 2-8 season in his third year.
